Growth of Web 2.0 and Beckii Cruel.

From the creation on Web 1.0 where by the public could take control of the internet being able to create websites whereby they were able to promote themselves as an individual rather than following the trends of other webpage users. From the improvedWeb 1.0 ,Web 2.0 was born whereby  graphics and moving objects were involved ensuring that people were allowed to show their creativity and talent in creating an over the top dramatical webpage.

Tim Berners-Lee states in 2006 “Web 1.0 was all about connecting people. It was an interactive space, and I think Web 2.0 is, of course, a piece of jargon, nobody even knows what it means. If Web 2.0 for you is blogs and wikis, then that is people to people. But that  was what the Web was supposed to be all along.”

Web 2.0 has bought many ordinary people into the lime light from Youtube hits which have bought them huge support from the public and other celebrity followers. For example,Beckii Cruel, who's real name is Rebecca Anne flint was born on the 5th june 1995.Beckii cruel has become a huge name in japan from her anime pop dancing which she created with only a webcam in her bedroom as brought her many supporters all over japan as well as a record deal with Tokokuma Japan Communication Co.Ltd.She is the 17th most subscribed user on Youtube, with having over 45,000 subscribers to her page.

There are also many citizen journalists which have been created through Web 2.0,from Perez hilton being crowd the biggest bitch on the internet. To the world renown Justin Bieber being found by Usher on Youtube, which has resulted in record amounts of album sales and adoring female fans.

There are many websites which have been created from Web 2.0,from wikipedia to social networking sites.wikipedia is a prime        example of web 2.0 the information in which has been put on the internet is not written in stone, therefore information can change from time to time. For example, the webpage for a celebrity will change repeatedly throughout the year from events in which they have been involved in to a single or album release to whether they have been given awards or have been involved negatively in the media. Some people feel that wikipedia is not a correct source for being to be using due to accessibility of individuals being able to change information freely, but is this really true, can we change information this easily on wikipedia,or are there rules and regulations?

Wikipedia has rules and regulations to where and when information is able to be changed or created, firstly a registered user is only able to change information which has to go through categories and sent to the main leaders of wikipedia to whether the information is then included onto the webpage:
  • full protection prevents editing by everyone except administrators. Fully protected media files cannot be overwritten by new uploads.
  • Semi-protection prevents editing by unregistered contributors and contributors with accounts which are not auto confirmed.
  • Creation protection prevents a page (normally a previously deleted one) from being recreated (also known as "salting").
  • Move protection protects the page solely from moves.
  • Upload protection protects the file from reupload, does not protect the file page from editing.
  • Pending-changes protection means edits are not visible to readers who are not logged in, until the edits are checked by a reviewer.
