28/1/2011-Identity;the 3 laws of being a robot.

1) A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2) A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Do you ever think of a world where the ratio of robots to humans is 5-1,but still we have control over them, due to their mechanical nature of having to abide by three simple rules. With the increasing development of machines taking over the work places, these 'industrial robots' are resulting in humans becoming extinct in the production line.So i ask myself,is there really any need for humans to walk this earth anymore?

Alex Proyas in 2004,created the perfect blockbuster to educate us all about how our world will really look in 2035,maybe a little over the top with the robotic trains dropping off our newest robot to do the housework, but more or less Alex reassured us that we will have the power over them. But how different are robots to human and has cyberspace really blurred the difference,or does the world that we live in adapt us to the changes without us even giving it a thought?

Marvin L Minsky-stated that Artificial  intelligence  allows us to ask three questions:
1)What it means to be here?
2)Why do we have minds?
3)Do we all think the same?

During I robot, these three questions asked by Marvin Minsky are very much relevant to some of the things Sunny the computerised robot manufactured by Doctor Lenin asks himself throughout the film, stating that he does dream and does have thoughts, although all the other robots are under command by any human being. And to whether Sunny is really a human or a robot?

             A.L.I.C.E-Artificial Intelligence Chatbot

Chatboxs are another way of proving my point to whether identity has changed throughout the years of cyberspace, with the invention of Alice and Eliza, the virtual friends which is designed to engage in intellectual conversation within a range of specific area's.For example,Alice likes to call herself a therapist. Both chatboxs respond quickly and after a few minutes of engaging in conversation with them it is clear that they are a computer generated programme with the likeliness of answering such a question of "are you a robot or a human?" to reversing the question to "why?",this is mainly down to the fact that the character is programmed to pick up on key words to be able to answer in a relevant manner.

So, are Sunny and Alice alike or are the two on a complete different spectrum of the world of Artificial Intelligence?
